All About Amino Acids
Amino acids are naturally occurring components of the skin and important building
blocks involved in proteins, peptides, and the skin’s natural moisturizing factors.
In skincare formulas, amino acids are commonly used to support hydration, softness,
skin comfort, and the appearance of a healthier, more resilient skin barrier.
Different amino acids can perform different cosmetic functions. Arginine, for example,
is frequently included in hydrating and barrier-supporting formulas and may also be
used to help adjust a product’s pH. The results of an amino acid serum depend on the
specific amino acids used, their concentrations, the product’s delivery system,
and the complete supporting formula.
This education cluster explains the potential benefits of amino acid serums,
explores the role of arginine in skincare, and compares amino acids with panthenol
and hyaluronic acid for hydration, skin-barrier support, and everyday routine use.
